Quarry Park - Tauranga

Well, this place is.
From 1911 to 1979 Quarry Park was a working quarry for roading materials. After it closed locals took it over and have been working hard out ever since.
Quarry Park has it all.
- Walks and climbs. (Suitable for wheelchairs too.)
- The most incredible outdoor art
- Native birds and wildlife
- Native bush
Quarry Gardens is free to visit and no matter what I say, I will never be able to do it justice. You just must see it for yourself.
It is situated in Te Puna, some 12km away from Tauranga, so pick a nice sunny day and introduce yourself to the wonderful Quarry Gardens.
Not too far away are some other beautiful places to visit as well.
- KatiKati. Bird Gardens
- Katikati town itself. Known as the “Mural Town” of New Zealand you can walk the streets, see great sculptures, and wall painting.
- KatiKati boasts the Haiku Pathway with the largest collection of Haiku’s outside of Japan.
There is so much in this area to see, from hilltop views to walks on beaches. I know its great because the Tauranga region is my own back yard. I have lived in this region most of my life.
So, it’s time you did a bit of “Googling.”
Visit and enjoy Paul’s backyard.
