Orakei Korako

Discover Orakei Korako: New Zealand’s Geothermal Wonderland

Orakei Korako is a natural marvel right here in New Zealand, showcasing four stunning silica terraces: The Emerald Terrace, The Rainbow, The Cascade, and The Golden Fleece. The Emerald Terrace, the lowest of the terraces, receives up to 20 million liters of silica-enriched water daily, creating its vibrant, colorful display.

While many visitors are drawn to the geysers and terraces, the true gem is The Raputu Cave (Sacred Hole), one of only two known geothermal field caves in the world. The "Raupatu" descends more than 35 meters to The Pool of Mirrors (Waiwhakaata), where you can admire perfectly clear, warm acid water.

Your visit will also include spectacular views of active mud pools and geysers.
