Drive safely
Be it holiday or business travel. you owe it to yourself, your passengers and and others on the road to drive safely and get where you are going in the same condition as when you left.
As part of my travel blogs it would be poor form to not mention driver safety. We see and hear of too many accidents every day.
Driving a car can give you freedom. But it’s also one of riskiest things you do every day. Many things can make driving risky. Speeding, not paying full attention to the road, and driving while tired all increase your chances of a crash. Drinking or using drugs can be especially dangerous.
So here is a reminder (not a lecture) of some basic driving tips. I want you to enjoy your journey's in New Zealand and always get home afterwards.
- 1/ Always keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.
- 2/ Don’t multi-task, like talking or texting, eating and drinking, or fiddling with the stereo, entertainment, or navigation system.
- 3/ Wear your safety belt.
- 4/ Drive at the speed limit. It’s unsafe to drive too fast or too slowly.
- 5/ Obey all traffic signs.
- 6/ Keep enough distance between you and the car in front of you to avoid a crash.
- 7/ Don’t drink and drive.
- 8/ When you take a new medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist about side effects. Some can affect your driving.
- 9/ If you have glasses or contact lenses, make sure you have a current prescription and wear them while driving.
- 10/ Don’t wear sunglasses or tinted lenses at night.
