Who doesn’t love little Blue Penguins? At about 8pm every evening the little blue penguins gather at sea and come ashore. They climb up the rocks, walk right past you to their onshore nesting boxes. Truly a wonderful experience indeed. 

But that’s all at night. What can you do during the day?

Steam Punk HQ 

What a fun experience. All the weird things you never imagined that never existed. Steam Punk HQ is next to the railway line on the edge of the old town.

Oamaru has the historic Victorian Quarter with wonderful limestone buildings constructed in the mid 1800's when the town was developed round the export trade for wool and grain. Recognize some of the old company names on the  buildings that no longer exist as you walk around the craft markets.  Stop for  Cuppa and a cake in one of the local cafe's.
