Masterton (Māori: Whakaoriori) is a large town in the Greater Wellington Region of New Zealand.   It is the largest town in the Wairarapa, a region separated from Wellington by the Rimutaka ranges. It stands on the Waipoua stream between the Ruamahunga and Waingawa Rivers – 100 kilometres north-east of Wellington and 39.4 kilometres south of Eketāhuna.

Masterton has an urban population of 22,400, and a district population of 29,000 (June 2022

It's a great little town. Lived there when I was a small child.  It's flat, easy to cycle around and the people are so very friendly.

Masterton has art all over it. In fact so much that  digital map has been created which you can download for your visit.  Load up the map and use it to find each piece, the listings will also give you more background about the artist and their inspiration.

Most is within the downtown area, so it's not hours and hours of tiring walking. You will not only get to see all the art, but it's a great way to see Masterton as well. You can stop on the way at any of numerous cafe's nd restaurants. Take your time to enjoy the town.
