Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre

Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre

The Omaka Heritage Aviation Centre is out by the Omaka Airport 10m from downtown Blenheim and well worth a visit.

There are two parts to it

1/ Dangerous Skies

2/ Sir Peter Jacksons own collection  Knights of the Sky crafted by Weta Workshop.

The majority of aircraft are replica's made to perfection with very informative information boards. All are WWI aircraft.

Sir Peters personal and extensive collection of war memorabilia is also on display. Medals, Uniforms and so much more.

The Omaka AHC’s story began with a resurgence of heritage aviation interest in Marlborough in the late 1990's, when a group of enthusiasts imported two Chinese Nanchang trainers and established the Marlborough Warbirds Association. It is run by a Charitable Trust.

I would recommend several hours for a visit. Very nice Cafe on site too.

Another building houses Classic Cars (separate ticket)

And if that's not enough, every  2nd year the Classic Fighters Omake Airshow is on. Next is April 18-20th 2025 and trust me, it's an incredible experience.
