Love Gannets , Go to Cape Kidnappers
Cape Kidnappers is 26km or about 35 minutes drive from Hastings and Australasia's largest mainland gannet colony with over 20,000 birds.
It's situated on a sandstone headland with spectacular 360 degree views.
At low tide you can walk the beach up to the colony.
One must be aware that the high cliffs made of many different materials are subject to erosion and the odd rock falls can occur.
Take a picnic lunch and be sure to enjoy your day out.
On your walk lookout for petrified wood and fosslised shells.
